Family Matters
Visitors!
Dad Drake and Fran and the St. Louis' were up to Leadville for Boom Days for a double birthday celebration (Fran's and then Julie's). The whole gang caught the parade and then gorged on carnie food and wandered through the craft booths on Saturday. Had such warm weather that we were able to hang out around the firepit in shorts Saturday night. Sunday, we caught some of the mining competitions, watched the burro races, and the rodeo. Fun weekend had by all!
The Kids
Okay, not our kids but our niece and nephews:
And then there were three:
Taylor and Hunter welcomed a new baby brother, Teague, in 2008.
2007 Family
Mom Drake and a friend stopped by in early Sept to check out Leadville. They happened on the weekend of the inaugural Independence Film Fest. Look out Sundance, Leadville's coming up...!
Mom and Dad Johnson came up the motorcoach in mid-Sept for a few days. Unfortunately, due to some family emergencies, they headed home early.
The Drake–Le Blanc Wedding
Dad and Fran were married on May 19, 2006. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony. The wedding was held at their new home in Montrose—what great memories they have created there already. A small gathering of friends and family celebrated with them.
Visitors from Milwaukee
Uncle Don and Dick made the trip west for a convention in Denver and had some time to stop by Leadville. They experienced a true Rocky Mountain fall; it snowed. Had hoped to take them up Lost Canyon to the Columbia Mine but the weather just wasn't cooperating. Go figure...only a few days later the weather cleared and we had a really nice day to enjoy the views of Leadville from the mine.
